...is starting to sound a little tired.
Try this.
Put the cost to the US economy of shoplifting against the benefit to the US economy of getting all those shit jobs done - cleaning out subways, slaughtering cattle, processing chickens and so forth - that no "American" wants to do nowadays.
There's not enough thought going into thios debate.

Maybe you should "get with the program" ...
and start shoplifting then?
I think if I ever discovered we had hired an illegal, I'd probably report him. Especially, if he wasn't doing a very good job.
P.S. One time, I actually stole a candy bar simply because I didn't feel like standing in line.
