The point is...
Our border patrol officials shouldn't be giving out information about legal American citizens to the Mexican authorities. It's like having the CIA give the enemy in Iraq our secrets to help them bomb our soldiers. They're supposed to be on our side.

If this is indeed so . . .
I doubt it is to help the illegals, so much as it is to keep the Minutemen from being able to prove that they are doing a better job of enforcing the border than the bureaucracy-crazed Border Patrol is doing.
