brettnik,
This is great. I really love how you bring back the memories, and that last paragraph is just the way I think we all feel sometimes about dreams trying to hold reality at bay. Thanks. :)

lovely
the memories are what create the realities in many ways. Each one is somehow installed in a part of our being, and we can follow the path of long past feelings of joy or sadness, that all goes into shaping who and what we are now,

Brettnik--- Re: your

Not a problem. We all make these types of mistakes. My intent is to help others improve their writing, not criticize their often unintended errors.

Isn't it weird how the memory of something imagined is no different at all from a memory of something you actually saw!

I hope your country stayed out of war! Unlike the one I'm in.

Brettnik--- Great post. I really enjoyed this. As a matter of fact,
I previously made notes of some of my childhood memories to write about. One of them was being certain that I saw a pyterodactyl flying over my house and believing that it and its family probably had a secret cave somewhere nearby.

Wow! Very vivid childhood memories!
I loved them.
My inner child resonates with this post.
Though I did not invent my own goddess, I invented a country and "put" it on the map for my family to see.

So True
It's the purity and innocence of the imagination that I miss. Reality and experience can sure muddy things up.

Brettnik -
We all still have that same imagination. We've just been told that as adults, we can't think or dream like that. What a load of $#@!!*. One of the best things I ever learned was to not care what I am supposed to do based on social norms or mores and just do what I want on occassion - as long as it hurts no one. Let me tell you, it is the most liberating thing - though I am not over the "shame" of it. I still get embarrassed if I get caught doing what ever I am doing.

Yeah, it's so sad ...
It's like the first time you realize that your father isn't Superman, but just some guy who wears his underwear on the outside of his pants.
P.S. I would have been a little wary of that neighbor.
