Don't I know about paying those bills...I lived by rote for so many years..
I always think of Maslow's pyramid of self actualization when I look back on those years in my life...it's indeed difficult to live an altruistic lifestyle when your mind is preoccupied with demanding creditors and hungry sons!

muser - unfortunately thinking of life on a deeper level doesn't pay the bills! But I know what you mean and I'm looking forward to that moment.

Medusa - I do the abs stuff too mostly on a fitball and they do kill! But I just discovered that some back exercises I've been starting also kill my abs! I guess it all helps in the end.

malcolm - I think it really depends on the kid. My middle son got a job as soon as he was old enough (last year) and has already saved over $2000. My youngest can't wait till he is old enough to work (next year). Its just my eldest son that is the problem... Good luck with yours!

Amateur - I buy whatever my son needs for basic living - food, clothes, and I used to give him money to go out with his friends, but no more. Hopefully he will get a job soon.

Ca88
I guess it's better to have a full plate of life then nothing but crumbs.

Be well,

I'm glad you are feeling better, Ca88. Keep taking the yukky stuff, and
get well. I call that routine of getting up every day and doing the same thing all over again living by rote. I think it's a part of life we all go through...before we start to wake up and think about life on a deeper level.

Cass...I like the title of this blog....so true....
Glad you're feeling stronger...That natural herbal concoction sounds heinous, ha ha, but if it really works, then I would psyche myself up to and drink it down...I love Greek food , too...Yummy...and biscuits sound heavenly...Hey, I keep doing those ab crunch things, sit-ups and they hurt to do them. But, if I keep doing them, they will work, little by little.

You have all my sympathy
on the job front. Our eldest son will be 14 this summer and we're casually suggesting a part-time (even half a day per week) job would earn some pocket money for guitar strings etc? It isn't going down well.

Good to know that you're getting better. Drink more water and try to sleep early for the rest of the week. You should recover in no time.

Cutting off your financial support to your son is the most effective way to get him to be proactive about getting a job. The tough part lies in sticking to your decision if the job hunt turns out to be difficult. Instead of cutting off your financial support totally, you might want to consider cutting off a substantial portion, such that your son only has enough for basic living, but not for any 'luxuries', such as movies or expensive/frequent dining out. All the best!

ginnie, I guess some days do have emotion in them, even if they are "just another day".
