I know people who immigrated in the years right after WW2. They will tell you have you had to have all of your ducks in a row in order to come to the U.S. in those days.
Also, 1,500,000 illegals were deported in 1954 in "Operation Wetback". That was, of course, before the ACLU became our fourth branch of government.
