Exactly, Talion. What annoys me most is this pathetic reaching
for the idyllic.  "It's not supposed to happen here" means we can't believe that our spoiled, disenfranchised, disengaged, parentless, latchkey, detached, drugged, and desensitized children are capable of these terrible things.  Because, as you've noted, it should be happening in the urban schools.  What self-centered, self-agrandizing arrogance.

One thing odd I've noticed about cases like this is the places where they happen. Rarely, if ever, to school shootings happen in the urban areas that are the "cesspools of crime and violence." It's frequently in smaller towns/sheltered communities where such crimes "aren't supposed to happen." It makes me wonder what's really going on in some of these idyllic neighborhoods. Something is seething under the surface that nobody sees until it's too late.

And they should be, archiew. Hopefully, they'll be the progenitors of
finding a solution and altering, nay, stopping this horrible cycle.
