Comments on IF I WROTE THE LIFE OF JESUS -- THE VIRGIN BIRTH

Go to BUILDING A NEW RELIGION FROM THE GROUND UPAdd a commentGo to IF I WROTE THE LIFE OF JESUS -- THE VIRGIN BIRTH

I don't think that this article really proves or disproves the virgin birth.  It's basically a bunch of pinpoints that could be connected, but probably aren't.  While I do not agree with the Catholic church's view of Mary as being perpetually immaculate, I do believe that she was a virgin, as the Bible indicates at the conception of Jesus Christ.  If she were a virgin for the rest of her life, why would there be references to Jesus' brothers and sisters?  This would preclude the whole "Mary Magdalene/Jesus" relations.  This would form a whole line of half-deities starting not from Mary Magdalene (which I don't believe is founded at all in fact), but with all of Jesus' generation from Mary, the wife of Joseph.  Now, the reason I mention the obvious argument from the Da Vinci Code is not b/c I believe it, or think you believe it, or even that it is a valid topic anymore, but because it is an example of this kind of thinking.  I do not know your religious background or thrust, so I cannot comment on it.  I can only comment on my perceptions of your post.  Cricket ><>

a lot of people don't really understand
if a faith is built on sand and insubstantial mythic claims, then that faith serves no useful purpose.

my aim here is to remove the myth and discover  what can create a true and substantial faith.

much of Christian faith arises from a Medieval Church that produced a multitude of myth.

we dispel the myth and we are left with a solid core about which to build our own faith.

I'm a simple person and faith isn't something that you can dissect and intellectualize. It needs no explaining!

the virgin thing ! It is good that some people dare to speak the truth.
It is interesting that Muslims too, do not believe in the virgin birth. One of the two fundamental things that makes them different from Christians. Islam is a practical and much misunderstood religion - I think that all Christians could gain something by reading the Koran. Especially because they also believe that Jesus was a messenger and not the Son of God. Two fundamental things that suit the Vatican - and the rest of the  industry.

So you've knocked the whole thing down and Jesus isn't God and Mary wasn't a virgin! You've told us so much about what you don't believe. Does that mean you don't believe in anything? How sad.
