Glad to hear the baby was all right! Heads and other ends can bleed quite a lot, but most of the time, there's not a lot of harm done. So your wife stays calm? Must be something we women have. Myself, I had a very deep cut in my hand a couple of years ago, but I simply pressed the wound together, wound a (clean) towel around it and headed for the doctor's practise right across the street. I did not have to say anything: all the other patients just looked at the bloody rag and said "you go first". The hand needed 9 stitches, and the only bad thing was the itching afterwards.

And last year, I slid on a bit of ice in Steamboat Springs, and my head hit the curb. Bleeded like hell, but did not hurt, actually. What amazed me most, was that the doctors at the ER kept wondering why I had not broken anything? Just remembered I'm a "tête cajou". My granddad was Walloon and he used to say that our family was pretty hard-headed.... (I'm Belgian, btw.)
