911 ops are just getting wrose

There was a story a year or so back out here where a guy was in the house with a gun hunting down the girl on the phone.  She called 911 and told her story and was told there was nothing they could do because no units were available and the op hung up on her.  The young woman called back and the 911 op got to hear it as she was found by the attacker and shot.

My one dealing with them a few years back when someone was shooting off a gun across the street did not impress me at all.  I said "Someone is discharging a firearm across the street." "What are you talking about?" came the reply.  So I had to simplify it some "They are shooting a gun." "Oh, okay."  I went with the more technical term because I figured that would get the best response and be more or less what would be said to the police.  It is not a good thing to have slow minded people working the 911 phones.

Just think, that child may not ever be able to trust 9-1-1 again.

Hi blackcat,
It sure is.  I know the Lord will bring good out of this sad situation. More comprehensive training is defintely needed.

that's so hard to believe... I thought they were trained to respond to all
calls, and especially how to deal with child callers... so sad.
