Renegade, I am a very compassonate person. I work everyday with
children and teenagers who have learning or behavioural problems trying to help them overcome and achieve.   I don't need to defend myself, but I do not seek to throw stones, but wash people's feet!

Mt. --I know. You've already shared that story. It's a nice one, but one
that should have given you more compassion towards others, I'm afraid.  I'm really disappointed.

Renigade, you don't have to get personal; however,
my name is not because I am on top of a mountain.   Last summer, I fell 50 feet down a mountain slope and came within a body length of going over a cliff -- After I awaken from my fall, I had to climb back up the mountain -- no one knew I had fallen, I was dazed, bleeding, broken ribs, and more and I look up to heaven, and said God, how am I going to climb this mountain -- He said put your hand in my hand and I will lift you up -- I did as he said, and about 3/4 way up, two angels (young men) saw me and lifted me the rest of the way up -- that is why I have the name mountainclimber -- you see for reason know only to God my life and body was spared, and I have dedicated the rest of my life to lift Him up!

Mt.--I see why you have your name. You seem to think that
you've risen above everyone else.  Your inability to accept that others don't respond (to the hype) because they also love God saddens me.  Enjoy your lonely mountain top.  Seems you are the only one who isn't gettiing spit out.

Renigade, to answer your question, no, and I will not
I have read reviews and excerpts.   That was all that my stomach could handle.   I kind of felt like Jesus when He said, that he would rather we be cold or hot than to be lukewarm, for if we were lukewarm, he would spit us out of his mouth Revelation 3:16,17

Mt.--then stop throwing them. And you never did answer... Have you even
read the book?

Renigade, there would be much fewer murderers and pedophiles
if we lifted up Christ like we should.   Sunday is Palm Sunday, and remember Jesus said, when told to stop people from praising Him -- if these to not praise me, the rocks will cry out in praise.    I don't know about you, but I don't want a dumb rock doing what I should do.

Just curious...Have you even read the book in question?

Takes a lot more to rattle my faith or anger me than some "whodunnit" about secret societies and Jesus's (supposed) marriage.  Believe me, finding out that Jesus was married wouldn't change my view on my religion at all.  Now those with shakier beliefs, well I imagine it would scare them down to the bone.

As for whether or not we (as Christians) should be just as outraged as the Muslims were over a stupid and insensitive cartoon...  I'd like to think not.  Ideologies that allow no room for criticism--or go on rampages against those who openly maintain different stances--are no more than radical institutions of mass brainwashing that use fear and strongarming to keep believers in fear.

Outrage?  No.  We should feel love and compassion and grattitude that our faith cannot be shaken by a NYT bestseller.  After all, I think we all know which Book has been on the bestseller list the longest--and will continue to be.

Sorry, MT.  You missed it on this one.  Save your anger for murderers and pedophiles.  Your faith shouldn't be this easily insulted.

BlackCat, I am glad I inspired you, I will read your post!

no... I think their outrage was ridiculous.
You inspired me to post... so thanks!  : )

Blackcat, If one religion can become outraged about
a dead prophet being ridicule, than don't you think we Christians should be upset about the ridicule of our living God!

evolution?
Other theories and beliefs about how this world was created has no impact on me and my beliefs... so again, I'm not sure why we should be outraged.  If you have a strong sense of your own values, it shouldn't affect you negatively.

Blackcat, Evolution was just another theory, denied by
Darwin in the last years of his life, and look what impact that theory has had on this country for the past 100 or more years!

outraged? Not everyone believes in the same thing.. so let them think it's

fact... or fiction... how does that affect you, me or any other Christian?

btw... I read the book.  I found it interesting from an art history standpoint.  It was just another theory.  I don't see any reason to get upset over it.

FactorFiction, Should we not be just as outraged at how
our Saviour is treated vs. how their prophet was treated?

It's just a book...let's hope that Christians can feel less threatened
than their Muslim counterparts were by cartoons!.

Offbeats, that is true, one wonders if we who do believe
are letting our lights shine bright enough!

Ariala, and what is also sad, there unbelief will impact
as many if not more than our faith does!

Mountain
If someone is converted because of the DiVinci code, they never believed in Jesus as their savior to begin with...

Mountain, people believe fiction as fact every day...the Bible says
"because they have not a LOVE for the truth, they will be sent a strong delusion to believe a lie."  People don't love the truth...so they take fiction and make it fact.  It's sad,

posted by Ariala on April 7, 2006 at 6:19 PM | link to this | reply

Offbeats, you won't and I will not, but millions
will, and they will turn fiction into fact, and sad will be the results upon their faith, and the faith of others!

The DaVinci Code is fiction...I won't buy it or borrow it from the library, I detest what it implies, but it is fiction...

posted by Offy on April 7, 2006 at 6:16 PM | link to this | reply

Ariala, it is not fiction we have to fear, it is those who will accept
fiction as fact that we must plead the blood of Christ over!

I don't fear fiction...
