so, this begs the question
who is God? it sounds like god is whatever commodity is coveted and scarce, and that the power of God rests in the hands of those who possess the commodity.
so...it's as if Holy Law, as well as common law is based on the availability/scarcity of valued resources.
Therefore, God is whatever we value.
God is also necessity. We may not like the fact that we value oil, and may bemoan what we do in the name of it, and yet we havn't figured out to survive without it. Or more to the point, we don't want to figure it out.
And so necessity and commodity take on different expressions in our life - our cars, stoves, furnaces all become the different faces of a God that we worship, and loathe at the same time.
So, it's up to us to choose another god - if only we had the guts - now there's a really scarce commodity.
btw - I'm white, but am considered to be a cutie-pie by anyone's standards. Pass me the coppertone...
