kingmi --
This issue over race just about split my dad and I apart before I wisely backed off.   My dad who had graduated pre-med, Magna Kum Luade from the university in 1932.  He still believed a study in which it was purported that no matter inwhat situation you put black people, environment didn't affect the lack of intelligence the AA people inherently didn't have.  I'm in the university from 71-75, some 50 years later, and that same study was being laughed at in my biology class.  Dad & I were having quite a debate when I said something along the lines of meaning "your education is so outdated; times have changed" and he stopped gave me such a look... I just said we had better change the conversation.  I admired and loved my dad very much, who was a brilliant man.  George Wallace, who did experience a major spiritual transformation in his life, btw, was often discussed around our KS supper table.  We were political farmers (NFO) - radicals.......
