On the contrary . . .

. . . It seems to me that a lot of people have problems with good works, if they are being done by those they deem politically incorrect - such as the military in Iraq. Projects like this have been undertaken for as long as we've been there, yet they are seldom if ever reported by the lamestreamers. Why? Because they contradict the idea that we are losing, we are doing no good, and that everybody there hates us.

As for "So if some major activities are obviously questionable, then people, who've been "burned" so to speak by news of the big fire, will be a bit spooked by what might be innocent, but resembles fire nonetheless to their minds." -

okay so draw unwarrantee conclusions about war opponents

nobody has a problem with good works.

some will invariably question the true motives (after all there are a lot of spurious activities occuring over there).

So if some major activities are obviously questionable, then people, who've been "burned" so to speak by news of the big fire, will be a bit spooked by what might be innocent, but resembles fire nonetheless to their minds.

and this incident comes in the middle of all the other news adverse to the U.S. Administration's empty pronouncements.

If we were to get truth out of the Bush Administration on other fronts, then maybe we cna believe that this in particular is an example of true altruism.
