Nan--- You're going to learn a lot more about me that you probably
want to know! But most seem to enjoy it nevertheless, even the guys.

Jaz
thanks- his latest looks good- I'll let you know if I get it.  (Your book may be coming in the mail today or tomorrow and I'm looking forward to reading it!  Maybe I'll do a review of it...)

Nan-- Yes, he is. His first, a book of short stories, was just a rehash of
some of his songs. His second, a novel (I don't remember the name) was much better. Haven't read his latest.

Jazwolf
I used to love that song... Say, I saw some books out by a Jimmy Buffet yesterday- is he a writer (of books) too?

BP-- Thanks for reading. Wish I could listen to that kind of music and
work, but good lyrics are just too distracting for my simple mind.

Jazwolf,

Good post, and I also like Jimmy Buffett.  I learned to appreciate him in college, also, when my room mates were playing a lot of Steve Miller Band and The Eagles, as well.  Both of these groups, in my opinion, also had some clever, poignant lyrics in several songs.  To this day, it's still some of my best study music.

And I also remember the Hokey Pokey joke about the songwriter's funeral.  They had trouble closing the casket apparently, i.e., they put his left foot in, he put his left foot out.  Thanks.  :)

Actually the Hokey Pokey was written in the 1940's by a guy named

Larry LaPrise, who died in 1996. I use to work part time as a DJ since high school in the 60's and up until 2001. I worked in AM and FM and also did some private work and played the Hokey Pokey and Chicken Dance until I thought i would die.

When Larry died in 1996 a funny joke made the rounds about the problem they had putting him in the casket. They said when they place him in he stuck out is left foot sn shook it all about and it went on and on.

By the way I love Buffet, his CD he did about 2 years ago was great,

Good post by the way.

You may be onto something here.
I think Jimmy Buffet is a genius as far as lyrics are concerned.  In fact, who wouldn't agree that the following statement is a good one to follow in a responsible, adult life:

Some people claim that there's [assorted other people] to blame, but I know it's my own damn fault.

Have a good one!
