I can just see you poor Mom, Jazwolf, trapped under the dining room table
with Tootie flying about. You portrayed quite a scene with Tootie saying what your Mom was probably thinking! I think Dave's idea is stellar!

This is such human (and bird) story
I have an elderly cousin who has a terror of feathers. She is a
wonderful cook in the old fashioned way of baking cakes. I thought it
might be nice to bring her a cloth for her table. I found one with
birds on on it. Much later she told me about her feather phobia

Jazwolf - Of course I gave you an "of course". It isn't easy writing among
professionals writers / authors and commenting on their posts. Very intimidating.

Jazwolf - What a great tale! I somehow missed this one in March. Hm.
Your poor mom. - Your balance between affection for the bird, understanding your mom, and humor at the situation is perfect (of course).

A-G--- I think that you're right. Sadly, some people refuse to be healed
because they are comfortable in their circumstance.

Jaz
I liked this story immensely. It seems as though Tootie was attempting to heal your mother's fears, but was unsuccessful.

I arrived here from Uncle Dave's Showcase
Thoroughly enjoyable post. Your poor mother and Tootie must have been rather bewildered. ;) One little wasp caused me to have a wreck a few years ago.

Jaz, just checking in to see how the showcase is working for you. Seems
it's going well. I think Tapsie's statement says a lot. Despite the best efforts of any reader, it's easy to miss out on a special post. See you around.

Great story. It is ironic how people handle circumstances so differently. It makes you wonder how different your life might be if youchanged some of the little choices. Even little choices can have huge impact!

Captain--- Insightful observation. Actually, that paraellel (and irony)
did occur to me after I had written of the experience. One of the fascinating things that I've discovered about writing, at least for myself, is that I learn about such things as I write and afterward, instead of realizing what's going on first and then deciding to write about it. I didn't word that very well. I hope that it makes sense.

I read this one the first time around, but missed the punting rooster image completely! Great timing in this piece. Maybe you should submit it to PETA for an upcoming issue!

Jaz: Who had who in a cage?
Perhaps you intended this, but I love the irony that in the end it was your poor mother caged under the table, captured by a bird.
Hummm...caged by her own fears...
interesting. LOL...actually, it's brilliant the longer I ponder this relationship between captor and captive!

it in the showcase. That picture of the patrol and the prison really had me full of mirth. Good post.
