...run the lunar calander in parallel with the solar one throughout Asia, but I hadn't made the link to this.
Interesting...

Damon all that figuring comes from phases of the moon too. I once
knew more about it but I can't remember how it went but initially it counted by lunar movements. However, the dates will not stay the same on lunar dating. This is an interesting post. I knew nothing of the other dates you have listed.

Dave...
...I never actually got offered Latin which, considering the school I went to, is a bit odd, in retrospect.
The only Latin I know is Nil Illigitimae Carborundum - Don't Let the Bastards Grind You Down!
Thanks for dropping in

Ah! Very interesting Damon!
I looked at the calendar this morning and thought it's the "Ides of March!" It took me back to my Shakespeare studies but now I know more! And I agree with Dave....Latin was a cool subject!

Damon, Ides already knew some of it, but that was a lovely little lesson.
Reminded me of my old Latin teacher who used to fall asleep whilst teaching us. Shame that subject is out of fashion nowadays. I learned more about the English language in Latin than I did in English. And more History too.
