Decs,
You might take a peek into a dictionary.  Please don't take this the wrong way, but I haven't got a clue where you picked up on an association between peeping tom and blackmailer in relation to Mind Boggling.  Seems a bit of a stretch to connect the two.  Please explain, if you don't mind.  I may be missing something I should know about.

Dec,

Mind boggling as in being overcome with astonishment.

Peeping Tom?  First, a peeping tom sneaks aroung peeping where he shouldn't.  If a bunch of snazzy babes want to dance naked in the street, I won't consider myself a peeping tom for watching.  I would be acting as the audience that they desire.

Blackmailer?  Such a person normally extorts something of value through a threat to make a secret matter public.  I don't think there is much opportunity for that at Blogit.  Bloggers are already pretty exhibitionistic.  Opportunities for blackmailers are essentially nonexistent.

I'm just Joe Bloe, lost in amazement at the human psyche.  Sometimes I post to blogs just to stir more learning experiences.  It's really quite enjoyable.

symphony,

Good to see you.
I think everyone does that.  The reason I first thought of it was because I do the same thing myself.  I wonder at why I do it, then I think about all of the other people who do the same thing, then I think, what in the world is everyone doing.

I really think bloggers do that without thinking too much about it.  It isn't bad at all, it's just something that makes me very curious about why people feel a need for it.  I think a big part of it is the need for validation through public approval, something that I have read quite a bit about as a need that professional entertainers have.  I don't know, but it is an interesting subject.

Mind boggling? What are you? A peeping tom? A blackmailer? Is that
the kind of mind boggling to which you are referring?  Please explain "mind boggling."

Blanche,

That is true.  Even around town, at least in a city of any size, it's quite amazing how open and friendly complete strangers can be.  Some aren't, of course.  Some people are just plain nasty under any circumstances.  It is amazing how much more people tend to be openly themselves around strangers who make any effort at all to be pleasant to one another.

I think is must be a comfortable distance issue.  Too close, and people become defensive and judgemental.  Too far and they see one another as pictures or TV images.  Maybe someday everyone will learn to get along.  Contact through the Internet could well facilitate that.  It does offer an avenue of hope.

Oh, absolutely, I agree
I've had conversations with strangers traveling, on the road, and places where you meet people you know you'll never see again.  There's a great freedom in that.
