- Go to MODERN RELIGION IS BUILT ON A FOUNDATION OF SAND
“Faith is based on past experience.”
Why drive people from their faith? If faith is truly based on experience than why do people have faith in things like religion, “faith is evidence.” Millions of people who have faith must be evidence of something, or do you accuse 80% of the population of the world as being ridiculous and having no foundation to their personal experiences which results in faith? Christianity is not the only religion that has prophetic ideas about the state of the world. Islam has Jihad, the religious war, the flip side of Revelations, many ancient religions have some form of a ‘cleansing of humanity’ prophesy. The question: Without faith, what do we have? Faith provides redemption and gives hope under the most vile circumstances. I don’t believe in organized religion, factually based or not, my belief comes from inside my being whether they have the cloth of Christ or not. If someone lost their faith over something as silly as a piece of cloth or an idol/symbol of any kind, then I say they never had faith to begin with. I enjoy your writing, well done.

That medievel mentality is where lots of people are stuck from a spiritual maturity perspective as well. It's the mythic time - belief in monsters and dragons, belief in whatever the "authority figure" tells you, etc.
