doxbaby444,
Little Bennett is having a hard time, certainly, and I hope and pray for you that her "Sweetness" will return home safely.  While I do agree with the quote that M.P.O. posted, my heart goes out to your daughter.  And I'm not even especially fond of animals.  I have no advice either on child rearing and easing the pain of hard lessons, but if your post reminds me of a song by Regina Belle, called "If I Could".  It describes exactly what you seem to be thinking.  Good luck and God bless.

doxbaby444...

Your daughter is so fortunate to have a caring mother like you.  We can not shield our children from the grief they will inevitably endure in their lifetime, but we can give them a loving soft place to fall.  I can see your little daughter in my minds eye and I hurt for you and her.  I've raised all my children and now that they are grown I realize that although they experienced the bumps and bruises of losses, they are strong, caring, and loving members of our society.

Once one of my sons, called me upstairs to see the wall of his bedroom. He was about fifteen at the time.   He had hung a picture up of every animal that he and our family,  had loved throughout his lifetime, from pigs to chickens to puppies.  I was surprised and I felt the hurt he felt.  "Son," I gently stated, "I think you should take the pictures down, because it is not necessary for you to see a form of an obituary list everyday."  He put the pictures away, and he understood that we can't dwell on our loses, but must move on.  To this day,  this son is one of my most sensitive offspring.  He is perceptive to the feelings and needs of others.

I hope your daughter's little kitty comes back.  She sounds like such a precious little girl.

I'm hardly an expert on child rearing, however, Goethe wrote:

"Too many parents make life hard for their children by trying, too zealously, to make it easy for them."
