- Go to Giving Girl Genius a Break!
That's so cool...
I'm jealous of GG! She has cooler parents than I do.
Of course she'll remember you. Start making your wish list... ;-)

Angel - yes, I will be proud ...
but very sad, when Girl Genius spreads her wings and flies away.

AC – there is no way Better Half or I would ever ...
hold Girl Genius back. In fact, I'm busting my ass to give her every advantage. I just hope she remembers us when she hits the big time.

Babe_Rocks - homeschooling is NOT an option ...
as screwed up as society is, I think people just have to learn to deal with mean people. Better Half and I know quite a few families that homeschool, and their kids seem to be socially challenged.

Reading your posts about your daughter makes me think of mine....
And, so your writing of her one day leaving, makes me think of my Aidan, leaving. That will be a hard day for you, but one that will make you very proud, I am sure.

You go Girl Genius!
Let her go and allow her to chase her dreams if that is what she wants. She will be forever grateful that you didn't hold her back for selfish reasons...Trust me...I wish my dad would've done that!

Get her out of that stupid school, homeschool her and let her start working in the industry. It doesn't have to be in NY. Charter schools were set up to deal with some of these issues. Sometimes they either don't have a very good mission statement or they don't live up to their purpose. I just got an email from a friend whose son goes to a charter school. She said he wasn't getting good grades so they are taking him to Sylvan Learning Center. The teachers grading him can't hold a candle to him as far as creativity goes. As far as kids getting in trouble for defending themselve...I don't know when society is going to wise up and realize that when you pick and pick on somebody, in the end they will fight back. Sorry, but I could go on and on.....
