BrightIrish,
I haven't seen that post yet.  I'm sure scoop will have an interesting treatment of Ms. Streisand, considering the difference in their political views.  Thanks for mentioning that.

Mephisto,

It is interesting about subliminal meaning in typing errors.  I read somewhere once about such errors in handwriting having subconscious significance, so it would seem that if that is true, it would also apply to typing.  Then again, I read somewhere that Siggy Freud, when asked about his cigar smoking, said ''Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.''  It would be interesting to do a blog on the subject.  If you searched Google you could probably come up with a lot of information.  You have to be careful about information there.  The search dredges up as much garbage as worthwhile information.

Yes, a little nip can increase typing errors.  But does that make you more error prone through physiological debilitation, or through a lessening of psychological inhibitions that repress subconscious manifestations?  Hmmmm.

I don't think you need to worry about being self-indulgent in material that you post.  Anything you are comfortable with making public is pretty much acceptable.

Blurting when you write is very useful.  I used to do a lot of writing by pen because I felt more free to do it that way, but I have developed the ability to do it on a word processor.  You have to filter it for a final draft, but I am frequently amazed by the things that flow out when you don't filter at the outset.  Quite often you come up with things that have meanings at levels that you didn't originally consider.

I went into detail in the comments on my planetary explosion post.  I don't remember now which one it was.  The whole story is there, in comments.

On people admitting they don't get it on MP--I'm not sure what to think there.  I know it is interesting to see reactions.  When people don't quite understand something, there are always very revealing reactions.

I babble on too long.  Thanks for the comment and the banter.

Did you see scoops post on Barbara Striesands spelling? It was funny, I hope things get better for you soon.

the condition of being pissed

I suppose it's better to be pissed off than pissed on.  And gramatically, I think pissed out might be better.  Thank you for the spelling guidance.  I'm pretty lazy, so I think I'll cross my third and fourth fingers and tie them together for typing.  I wonder if there is something subliminal about my typing errors.  Perhaps a repressed memory?  I think I must start a blog about this, or is that too self-indulgent? It does happen more frequently after drinking Merlot.

The title I took to was 'Go hit yourself with a stick'--your policy of blurting has some real technical merit.  Now as to your question of time, philosophically speaking, if we are arrayed in 24 different time zones, do we all blow up at once?  Oh that's stupid, it depends on where the explosion originates.

AS to MP being 'sick' , can't critics just be honest and admit that they don't get it?  I see you blogged in time and if you have detonated yet, well, it was nice chatting briefly...love meph

Mephisto,

I have the same typing problems.  The spell checker is often very helpful, but it isn't at all unusual to come up with errors that form proper spellings of what you aren't saying.  I have found that precise placement of the keyboard is very helpful, but I can never seem to get it exactly where I want it.  Some other piece of equipment gets in the way, pissing me off, then I knock things about and have to take a break before breaking something.

I would recommend Typing Tutor.  I have used it quite a bit, but if you aren't in the mood for it, it can be quite an irritation.  I should get back on it from time to time, but I seldom feel like doing it.

I'm not sure whether the title of the blog was what you found interesting, or the title of the post.  I didn't like the blog title at first, but I am becoming attached to it.  The title of the entry is interesting, but there again, that has grown on me.  I have decided that a good policy is to blurt such things from the subconscious and then review them.

You know, the existential battle and MP and the Holy Grail are an interesting connection here.  I always liked the humor in MP, but so many people think it's sick that I don't talk much about it.  The humor seems to fly right past the non-existential.

If you're new here, feel free to ask about anything you like.  I have been here just over a year, and am far from knowing everything, but if I can answer any questions, don't be reluctant to ask.  I find that other people's questions can be as educational to me as to them.

I haven't looked for philosophy since Blogit reorganized their categories.  Is it still not there?  I'll have to take a look and see if that falls under something else.  There is no excuse for omitting that category.  Putting it under ''Religion and Spiritual'' would just cause trouble.  ''Opinion'' is nothing but righteous windblowers;  I'll have to look.

I just slid past the Spell Check.  Now I have to look for big mistakes.

Thanks for your comment.

MP and the sacked writers

I read this for the first time because the title charmed me.  Your exsitential battle reminds me of the credits from MP and the Holy Grail about each successive set of writers being sacked.  And I'm new here.  Where can we kevetch to each other about typing dilemmas.  I always typ 'wiht' for 'with' , 'form' for 'from' and 'expalin' for 'explain'.  I have no one to blame but myself, but it does irk me (oh that's the other one-wrok for work--it was even orwk one day!)

I like your 'meta-humor' essay too.  Perhaps there should be a philosophy section.  love meph

Dr J,
Don't worry about missing the action.  Seeing that you came by and commented is a pleasure to me.  The action, I am still trying to understand.  In the year that I have been at Blogit I have yet to understand what it is that brings on a burst of popularity.  Some writers have it continuously, others, such as myself, just fall into it sporadically.  I cannot fathom what brings it on.  A coincidental combining of numerous unknown circumstances is all that I can decide.

mp,
I just returned from seeing that, as I'm sure you know at this point.  A charming lady, I must say.

I had heard that the time of day ...

was key.

However, almost every post I've made since entering the "vaunted" top ten, has been around midnight in the east.

P.S. Would you like to see a photo of my grandmother?

mpo,

I think this will be the last milking for this cow.  You certainly are right in every single thing you say about posting.  The time of day that you post seems to be important too.  I have put things up at the wrong time of day and had no reaction at all.  I have posted things that I considered much crappier, at a better time of day, and been swamped.  The main thing to consider is common sense, although I'm not sure that even helps.

Well, you just rolled through ''The Last Milking''  here.  Honest.  Now I feel guilty, but let's face it: it seems to work.  I think good training for blogging could be obtained at the insane asylum.

Sooooo, like, how long...

are you planning to "milk" this?

You know, I've come to the shocking realization that it really doesn't matter what I write here ... so long as it's short (plus posted once a day).  I will pretty much (ultimately) receive the same amount of attention, irregardless of the quality or significance (or, even, the coherence)

It's sad in a way, but actually kinda liberating, as well.
