The need for
for love starts with out first breath and continues until our last. Romance is good for one's soul. It oftens turns us back into blushing silly kids again. What a great thing.

Amen Taps, good points.
Regarding the vomit, he's my main upchucker.  I'm sure kids hurl far more than elderly adults, by a long shot!!!

I feel sorry for anyone who has never had the opportunity to spend time with the older generation people.  They have so much to offer.   Even though only about half of my patient load in long term care was older than I, my favorites by far were the geriactrics.   And, by the way, people of every age vomit--even me when I get hit with motion sickness at Disney World or sea sick on a cruise.

FactorFiction, good comments!
I guess, truth be told, I've been around so much vomit as a nurse that it doesn't really affect me anymore.  But yes, love at any age is pretty cool, eh?

hmmm

I waver between such oppposites in my reactions to reading this...

Well, I hope if/when I am a lonely old fart, I too can find that "love is blind feeling." I just hope it does not involve any vomit.

MandaLee, thanks for your comments and your insight.

I agree that the word "retard" is not appropriate and certainly not kind.

We are ALL precious in God's eyes -- no matter what our physical, mental or emotional disabilities, and no matter what our age.

Thanks for stopping by!

MPO, sorry darlin' but you're the loser by not doing your

community service project in a nursing home.  These are great people -- many with a wonderful sense of humor, kind, delightful folk.

My goal, some day is to get back into family practice (as a nurse practitioner), but for now I work with some of the best -- the elderly.

Jane,
It is very romantic.  I have a physical disability and am in a long term relationship.  There was a time when I was hospitalized for illness and sweetie had to clean up some messes.  That is real life, and unconditional love.

M.P.O.
The term 'retards' is disrespectful, stereotypical and hurtful.

"Romantic" would not necessarily be the first word that comes to mind.

You work in a nursing home?  Yikes!

When I had to choose my "community service", the choice was between working with the physically handicapped, the mentally handicapped or the elderly.

I was, like, "Oh, it's no contest!  I'm going with the retards."
