Thank you so much! I hope you can find a place like this for your children, even if it's at a park somewhere.....they are such magical places, and I think all children should have them. Kudos to you for recognizing the need....and, again, thanks for reading.

Thank you for coming back to my blogs....I missed you a lot! And, yes, I've often thought of my childhood when reading some of your posts and agree completely.....we were very lucky, and I have even more of those wonderful memories because I'm older and had it even tougher

I will be writing more of these, as this brought back a lot of memories....time is the problem...but now that I'm taking off a couple of weeks, maybe I can squeeze some out. Thanks for the kind words.

Thanks for reading! And I will keep you posted on the flying goal....it's behind many other, more practical ones that have dropped into my lap....but, I have a cousin-in-law who is a pilot for Delta and keeps a plane close by....so he keeps me "primed", and advised.

I wish we could have played together, too......and that you could have caught fireflies. The boys pulled their tails off! I never did....just put them in the jar to make my own lantern for the night, then set them free....the field next to my house was full of them and I would make myself almost sick, running them down in the thick, humid summer nights....then collapse on the ground and stare at the stars....watching them float by..... Thank you for enjoying my post, and the compliment.

This is a beautiful story, I have always dreamed of having a place like
that for my children, where they can just be. Thank you so very much for sharing it with us!

Like Offbeat, wish you could have been there to play, too! Of course, you would have been our little tag-a-long since you're younger.....and we probably would have fed you my mud pies.....but, they wouldn't have hurt ya! Glad you enjoyed it, and Elysian Fields is just outside of Marshall, btw....good ol' East Texas!

I sure wish you could have been a neighbor....we would have had so much fun!! And, no, I didn't catch butterflies, but I watched them for hours....loved the variety....all the beautiful colors....I didn't want to hurt their wings......

Hey, doodle bug queen, top notch post! So well written, of course, but so much content, as well. And all the kind of stuff which needs to be written about before this current plastic age erases it all.
You've mentioned your tree house before and you promised to write about it. It was well worth the wait. Having seen the picture you posted of yourself here as a little girl, I can easily picture you down in there doing all the things you describe. You know, in each of those Mason jars, you should tuck one of these childhood posts of yours. Lucky you, lucky me, being able to remember such childhoods.
I really enjoyed this.

what a wonderful story! Thank you for your comments about my flying. I think that sport license would be a great way to go. Let me know how you're doing!

Boy, Krisles.....What a wonderful memory.....
Wish I had known you. I have never caught a firefly...I, too, could easily imagine your huge tree and the fun you created beneath it...Back in those days, we created many simple pleasures because that is all we had to work with. I miss those days...At the present, too many batteries and computer chips running childhood toys....Wonderfully written...

I love it that your showing us this side of you! BTW... I loved my treehouse too! Can't believe you and those critters in a mason jar though! Did you catch any butterflies? I never liked catapillars...they were creepy. How about earthworms though? You know, night crawlers for fishing...
