Taps
It's the other way round as far as Ell is concerned, Taps - at least where Blogit is concerned.  She can't understand why I waste so much time on it, not that she has come up with a better idea, you understand.

I don't seem to need an excuse for not writing these days.    But, with El around, I'm sure that you do.  LOL

Krisles
But of course you can have an autographed copy, Krisles, especially after such praise.  You may have to wait a year or two, now that my head has swollen to such a size that I can't get near the computer. Thank you Krisles.

And your response to her query was...........? (and, I agree completely with your brilliant wife and all the prior Bloggers who also agreed....you are a brilliant writer.........and I want an autographed copy, too!)

Blanche
Editing is a pain in the butt, Blanche, but I do love when it is finished and the work sings to me.  Of course you can read it when I'm finished, because by that time it will be published and be a best seller - oops, sorry, my imagination escaped there for a minute.  The book is about being an immigrant in Canada, so basically it is a series of personal essays and memoirs.

tigerprincess
I did some curling last winter.   I'm not sure if I should say 'played' at curling or 'worked' at it?  The most difficult thing for me, tigerprincess, was staying upright.  The club did not, for some strange reason, invite me back.

JohnMcNab,
It must be a daunting task, the honing and polishing of your own work, within the parameters of a word count.  I've found myself looking more for essays and personal memoirs, not of famous people, but just ordinary people who write.   I hope I can get a look at your finished work, when you're ready.

If you understood any of what actually went on in curling, let me know

ginnieb
If by 'wise and wonderful' you mean she keeps correcting me as a 'work in progress' then I suppose you're right ginnie.  Thank you for the compliment.  What I need to do is have as much faith in me as others do -'others' does not include editors, agents, publishers et al.  Sorry for not reading and commenting lately, ginnie, but I will get back in the groove - I hope.  Which reminds me - I promised you a read at the New York chapter, which  I've just finished.

Consider it done, BrightIrish, and thanks for the compliment.  You may have to wait a few years, but hey, who's counting?

MerryAnne
Thank you muchly, MerryAnne, and if it ever does get published you will get an autographed copy.  First of all I have to finish it, and find an agent or publisher.  You never know, it may be this year. You've already read and critiqued the first chapter,(excellently), if you remember.

WoW! You have accomplished a lot  and Ell topped it off with a compliment that shocked and pleased you. John, you do write very well and I do not doubt for a minute that you will be published. I would also love to have a autographed copy.
