I have to admit to knowing little about the man - just enough to know that he's honoured and respected, and should STILL be listened to, especially in these dark days.

Shows you don't need to go far to find wisdom

about war and the state. Not far politically, at least. I mean, the man is not exactly a prime example of pacifist egalitarianism.

Today he would be labeled as such, though, by the Fox News fans.

called

The Rise and Fall of the Great Powers

good read -- shows how military expenditures caused the fall of world powers from Spain to USSR -- and looks like we're on the same track here in the U.S.

I'll post about it soon i tinnk.
