Thanks writer!
He is one of the best is correct. He has a lot of common sense to go along with a lot of book smarts. I enjoy reading all that he writes.

You're following a great example!
Dr. Sowell is one of the best. Good idea!

flame,
People with good common sense seem to do better in life in general. If you can team up common sense with a little education you can go a long way.

Your are absolutely correct. Most african elites do hide behind pieces of papers and yet fail tofind solutions to their countries or continent ills. I have discovered in africa especially in Cameroon and Nigeria two countries I know best, that, people who succeed in business or politics are not often those who graduated from Oxford or Cambridge. Currently, there is a battle going on with in the SDF , Cameroon's most organised opposition lead by John Fru Ndi that I wrote a piece about no long ago here. The intellectuals are blaming him , yet if any intellectual were in his position he will immediately seek ministerial appointment. You seem to have a deep understanding on the operational mechanic of the elites of Africa. Thanks a million for reading. God Bless.

Professor,
That's the way I like to see the Democrats look at things. They take solace in a close defeat. There are not many races in the whole Congress that are really competetive and that is a sad thing. I think the whole country reads some of the signs wrong on our elections. The big media leans far enough to the left to give a view that the Democrats have a chance and then after the elections they wonder what happened.

Hackett
Hackett almost beat that bitc* Jeanne Schmidt in a heavily Republican district in Ohio (she was the one who implied that Rep Murtha was a "coward"). It gave me hope; if a Dem can come within a couple of percentage points in a district that routinely votes 60% republican, there's a chance of overturning the majority in the House.
