Thanks, DamonLeigh. I believe it is a topic not many beyond those with
vested interests have taken much time considering.  And, uh, food-fight?  Damn!  I knew I missed something when I fell asleep as soon as Dubya stood up...

Very Interesting...
...question, saul.

And good on yer for avoiding the food-fight over who said what at the funeral. You're getting to the nub of things here - respect!

Well said, mellyn, and right you are. I am part Cherokee and have no
problem with that.  Anyone who knows the histories of the indigenous cultures of the Americas knows a little about discrimination and segregation.  And this can be said of the many cultures worldwide subjugated or eradicated by a stronger civilization.  But neither would it be a terrible thing for someone of the perceived elite, such as Jimmy Carter or Prince Charles to take up the mantle.  Although it may be a tougher sell (how can the landed, affluent, pampered ever identify with the oppressed?), we are all in this together.  An injustice against one sets precedent for injustice against many, no matter your socioeconomic status.

WOW DOUBLE WOW FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Looking at it this way, I know we all have been discriminated as a people one way or another,  caucasians too for being poor (by class).  But who I really would like to see as a leader would be a Native Indian.  They really got shafted also.   What do you think on my nomination?
