We do have a lot in common- my parents were married for 55 years before Dad died- and they always were openly affectionate. I remember coming home from school with friends and seeing my Mom sitting on my Dad's lap- I was totally embarrassed! However, they were a wonderful influence on me!

no hugging
my parents were an emotional mess with an unhappy marriage. there was never any hugging, hand holding, tenderness. more importantly for me there were no healthy conversations where problems were openly discussed and resolved. the upshot of this was that i never learned how to communicate. when i entered the world of sex instincts allowed me to function just fine but relationships were a mystery and struggle for me. i'm quite sure that's why i've never married. for all of my expertise with words i'm incapable of communicating my true feelings to the ones that matter most and to the ones that have mattered i have caused hurt and pain in an effort to save myself from those very things.

That is Awesome
Communication and love within a marriage is awesome. It takes that from both. You have wonderful children and the opportunity for a joyful life, it sounds to me. Take care!!
