What's up Jeff?  Hope you're right about the Stillers.  I've been waiting since the seventh grade for them to win one for the thumb.  Don't even mention baseball and home runs and don't be surprised if we hear of other athletes in other sports who used steroids also.  And one more thing.  taht defense that you were talking about has already been used.  I can recall some teams back in the seventies putting seven defensive backs and four down lineman on the field in a sort of prevent defense.  And some teams used it against the run and shoot offense of the Oilers and Falcons in the '80's and '90's.  Bill Bellichick of the Pats has gone as far as using two down lineman, two linebackers and seven DB's.

I was hoping for a Carolina-Denver Superbowl M.P.O.
Only because both starting quarterbacks would have been named Jake

Hmmm not a bad idea Burly
I remember the tenth man in softball but I never knew he was called the assistant shortstop.

Jeff
In the old softball rules, there was what was called an assistant shortstop. He played in short left field but could move around according to the hitter. Why not use the designated hitter that way. Put him in the shallow outfield and let him chase singles and doubles? It would tighten up the defense, give the designated hitter some reason for being out there and still allow the pitcher to strike out four times in a game!

I kinda think Seattle will win...

primarily, because NOBODY is picking them.  My boyfriend thinks that's stupid reasoning.  Of course, then again, he guaranteed a Panthers' Super Bowl parade.

Also, we should have known Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire were using steroids ... simply because of the size of their heads!

P.S. I wish Kobe played for the Sixers.

Jeff good post and points to ponder

I agree Pittsburgh will win with no sweat.

As far as placing the ball it does sound trivial but the correct spot can decide a game in my opinion. A yard is a yard and when inches count. But we all know bad spots by offcials have killed games.

I also agree on the home runs and the records, they are tainted as far as I am concerned. Anyone who follows baseball and who watched Bonds and McGuire and I have their rookie cards, they were runts but grew BIG over the years.
