Put your hip waders on tomorrow, Corbin,
There's plenty of good material coming out in the Sunday edition of the New York Times, and I hope you'll be back in fighting trim.   Anyway, I'll leave you alone and let you get over your flu.

xeno....
do you think we should just stick our heads in the sand and wish the Iranian problem away?

so where we gonna get another 250,00 pepole to fight this war
and where we gonna get the money?
and how many more years are we gonna keep people over there?
we don';t control 30% of afghanistan
we don't control 30% of Iraq
so we would probably conrtol less of Iran -- more mountainous landscep.
people oughta smarten up
but they haven't
half the voters voted for Bush
that's not fooling all the people all the timr -- or all of the people part of the time  -- but its fooling enough of the people enough of time -- actually too many of the people too much of the time.
any more fooling and we'll be in serious trouble

Corbin Dallas

Corbin, It is better for us to be aware and prepared. I pray that we will not have to enter into another war but I pray harder that we will never lose this great country because we kept our heads in the sand! Thanks for another good post.

Always happy to amuse, Corbin.
I'm not sure if I'm Frick or Frack, but to be frank (which I prefer to be):  it's all relevant, Iran's nuclear capabilities, real and documented.  The support in the polls, if you'll notice are heavily qualified by "despite Americans' reservations about Iraq".  In other words, please do not get us into another desert storm for nothing, Mr. President.

As for getting your shoes wet...well, what can I say?  You go walking in deep waters, you'll get a little wet.

Well, I see Frick and Frack have arrived........

First....this topic is about the Iranian  situation....not that I need to, Bloggy....here's the source I mentioned in my post, the  Financial Times:

You two are a hoot...you pop in with totally unrelated comments, off topic......and get everybody's shoes wet.....

Corbin,

Mr. Bush is losing his base, the conservative legal scholars are balking at the eavesdropping, according the NY Times.  He and his aides are doing the hard sell, but smart lawyers, even ones who've previously favored expanding executive powers are balking at UNWARRANTED wiretaps.  Everybody has their limits.

Corbin - Gee, I found that LA Times poll. You forgot this part...
Bush Support Weak, New Direction Favored, Poll Finds (Update1)

Jan. 27 (Bloomberg) -- President George W. Bush will address a nation next week that has soured on the direction of the country and his leadership on issues ranging from health care to the economy to Iraq.

A Bloomberg/Los Angeles Times poll taken this week as Bush prepares to deliver his annual State of the Union speech shows that (1) the president wins the approval of only 43 percent of the public, (2) a 7-point drop from a year ago. Three out of five say America is seriously off course, and (3) by 62 to 31 percent those surveyed want to move in a different direction than the one Bush has set forth.

The president has lost public support across a broad swath of issues, including most of the ones that especially concern Americans, as well as on matters of personal trust and leadership, according to the survey.   (from  http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=specialreport&sid=a6Qmc4rVgCu8&refer=news  )

I never did find the info about U.S. support of war against Iran.

The poll you mentioned has just come to support what I have always thought. America has the potential to fight many wars at the same especially with what Iran holds in stock  for the region if he is not check. As for your mention of the way Eurpeans handled the Hitler threats in the pass, I will like to call your attention to the fact, the French were the ones who never took Hitler seriously. Winston had long seen the worm that Hitler was perhaps his Foreign minister then Anthony Eden was a bit complacent, but Britain knew that Germany and its new leader then were bad.

Bud, I resemble that remark: I'm American, I use logic...
otherwise, good point.

Polls can be read many ways. To me this poll reinforces the notion

that the majority of Americans will support war of any kind without thought. It is saying nothing new, Americanbs are a duped warlike society, malleable in the hands of dictators.

It has nothing to do with it being a rational, wise, good decission. The poll tells the world what it already knows, that Americans are bereft of logic.

CORBIN DALLAS
We may not have any choice in the matter. The man is an idiot. To say things like the Holocaust never happened and that Jews have no place on the planet are the words we have heard in our history. Never again, means,Never again....I would doubt we would use standard infrantry warfare though. I believe on them we would use the "big one"............

Corbin I agree Iran is a major threat but here is what is worrying me

I read this article this morning;

WASHINGTON -- President Bush will use his new budget to propose cutting the size of the Army Reserve to its lowest level in three decades and stripping up to $4 billion from two fighter aircraft programs.

I hope we can get out of Iraq soon, but I really don't see it happening and with the action in Afghanistan I fear we may be to thin. But hopefully our air power would do the job.

Corbin,

I think the majority of Americans and the citizens from other countries (at least those who keep up with the information) realize we have very little choice any longer in attempting to control areas that might prove a threat. I keep thinking about the blunder CNN caused with Iran recently and how the media is a high standard for swaying votes in polls, ect. with so many societies. I see that the average individual normally collects his data from the local or national news and does not really investigate information on a higher level as you may or Scoop may here. I'm all for going into military action against Iran, should we have to, but, I also think that too many Americans will quickly back down with support simply because of all the past mistakes with Iraq if we don't have absolute facts this time. With Iran...
there will be no quick answers, but this is a country that bears watching. The dangerous minds leading the people in that country have no respect for human life!

Corbin, I know the world leaders said never again, but that was before
almost all of today's American's were born. Today they have shown they are for war until we become engaged to intensely to pull out and they demand a pull out! You can't win a war if you go into it thinking we will do this unless someone gets killed, then we need to come home. This man is crazy. He would wipe out the world taking himself with it looking for his share of the virgins. He is a loon.

We are bombared by our news media about how bad

things are, but when the American people get to voice opinions, maninly in elections and sometimes in polls, the results usually go against what the media and the left thinks. We know we  have to watch Iran and keep them at bay. That is something we must be diligent about. If Iran refuses to stop with the nuclear program there will be trouble.
