I took my boys to see this the other night and they actually remembered the story from when I had read it to them about 10 years ago! I too found some of the scenery a bit weird, but the lack of blood in the battle scenes is what threw me. I know they probably did that to get a general rating, but I guess I'm so used to seeing more gore nowadays it stood out!

thanks for the review... I seldom pay theatre price these days...
over-priced... I prefer laserdiscs (old tech...) you can get great old movies on laserdisc... but not the new ones. DVDs are getting pretty cheap too... 2/$10 in some stores.
of course that's not the newer stuff... beggars can't be choosers
