Xenox, in many ways you've written an excellent post.

But but but but I don't quite agree with all of it.

In the Bible we are told that the Bereans searched the Scriptures daily, because they wanted truth, and they wanted to truly understand the truth about God. While you, on the other hand, are searching the Bible (very good) AND a whole slew of other sources (frequently good, but potentially problematic).  So it seems to me an important question to ask is: each time you crack open a reference source or translation of the Bible, are you praying for God to guide you to Truth?  Because if you're of the opinion that truth is relative . . . than I'm not buying it. But I believe with all my heart the words of God when he said "if with all your heart you truly seek me, you will surely find me."

It is not my intent to judge; I leave that up to God, and forgive me if I come across judgmental rather than simply opinionated.  Thanks for sharing your methods of discovery.  While I don't agree with everything, I certainly appreciate very much your pursuit of knowledge. Perhaps this is also a pursuit of God -- that's between you and God!
