being "nice" and $3.75
will get you a tall latte at Starbucks. :) On the other hand, what's the harm?

My Dear friend thanks a lot for your compliments. What you mention is
just what I think this place should be, free of all sort of rancor.
Even if we have different opinions. Sadly I don't think it is always
the case. Once again thank you and God Bless.

I'd like to think that we are all human and have bits of
naughty and bits of nice in us. Though I have come in contact with a few on Blogit who seem to have a little bit of the "hateful" in them as well.

Of course, what is hateful for one doesn't necessarily means it's that way for another.

Hem,
I have to almost fully agree with Lensman's comment. I've been here about 2 1/2 years and I can say I have seen some pretty "naughty" people but for the most part, most are pretty kewl and neutral.

That's a good observation. I wonder if Santa makes exceptions for people who are only naughty part of the time?

Of course not. Hey, your comment gave me an idea. Maybe I will offer a "word of the day" contest First one to define it gets three clicks.

I've been naughty about half the year and nice the other half.
I think about 40 % of the bloggers here are mostly nice - the rest are somewhere between rude, lewd and socially unacceptable.

Thank you. I know more than a few people have moved on from here, possibly of the same mind. Rancor and disrespect, on Blogit? Say it ain't so!

I have sensed that you definitely are one of the nice ones. Of course "nice" is open to definition. My post was more for fun--and some curiosity--than anything else. If we were to be writing long, hair-splitting posts about whether so-and-so or such-and-such is "nice" or naughty", we'd increase the already obscene level of rancor and disrespect that abide here. A recently departed member, amfish, said he has set up his own website and had gotten as much as he could from Blogit, which really has a small audience, and is infected with too many immature and ill-informed people who are more interested in arguing and putting others down than they are in dealing thoughtfully with issues of importance to all of us, regardless of our ideological positions and personal beliefs. Thanks.

Hemlocker,
I'd like a better definition of nice. In fact, is nice even really what it's cracked up to be? Seattle has a reputation for having "nice" civil people, who are really cold and indifferent. Maybe, it's better to be a cantankerous curmudgeon (which I vacillate between and being sweetness personified), who tells you what he or she really thinks and a wallflower who will never speak up to voice a dissenting opinion. My point, wait, wait, I do have one: nice is good, civil is good, it's the phrasing and the attitude, even when differing.
As for the Santa Bush poll: I won't even get into that. I'm feeling too nice today.

My dear friend, I don't know what else to say other than say thank you
for your balance and insightful comments. Even though, I am a great
supporter of America for what it has done to the worls some of which
you have pointed and the current occupants share my ideological line of
thinking, I won't support them blindly and the points you mentioned
which are their weak points has made me to think twice and also thank
you for bringing the loopholes interligently. I am aware that, there
are no perfect human beings so also are the political groupings that
they create. Hence it only normal that Bush or Clinton, they all must
have short comings. I am no party with those who think Bush is perfect
and Clinton is not. I am party to objectivity hence I did profoudly
appreciate you comments. Once again thank you and God Bless.

I like lesman's analysis.........
I am a nice guy, but just HAVE to
"stir the pot" at times. I like to make people think, whether I
am posting my blogs, or commenting on the works of another. Yes,
I do play Devil's Advocate.
But is there anything wrong with spirited, passionate debate? i
swear, a "Casper Miltoast" is more annoying to me than a pushy
"A-hole". Not saying you are Casper, Hem - I like your work.

Very good. You are an optimist, perhaps, but I think you are right. I like to have a question taken seriously, even a silly question, rather than laughed at or shouted down by those who don't like the question. We have many like that.

Hi Hem
I haven't compiled any real statistics, but, after 10 months of blogging here, my rough estimate would be about 80 % nice, funny, creative, decent folks; 10 % loud, fractious and blunt, yet still creative and entertaining folks; 7% cynical and snide, yet still entertaining; 2.5 percent dark, bitter and twisted and not so entertaining; and 0.5% total A-ho's (i.e. naughty) who survive about two weeks before disappearing into blogoblivion.
Overall, I like those numbers.

Naughty or nice are both OK.
But what would you want to be if the classification was "naughty", "nice" or "boring"?

I think it would depend on what kind of a day Santa was having. Personally, since I'm a gemini (which I've been told gives me a split personality), I guess I'm both.

attempt a guess, but it seems we have a lot of opinionated people among us that can sometimes be perceived as naughty, but probably aren't.
