these two things are examples
examples of what the medieval church has constructed.
many things that are accepted today are similar constructs.
the invalidity of the constructs and concepts has been amply demonstrated; yet christianos embrace them as though they are absolute truth.
much of what is believed by Christianity comes from  the medieval Church.
the medieval church created a plethora of fables.
but Christianos refuse to move beyond these.

Adding to my comments --

the other example you gave was of celibacy or priests, also a Catholic concept and essentially extra-Biblical.

But for the rest of your blog, when you railed against faith and such, yes that is a crutch that Christians tend to perhaps overuse.  But the fact is that you cannot pick and choose which parts of the Bible you're going to accept as truth. Or, if you do, it will be an entirely new religion with a completely different philosophy.  Xenox, it is my impression that you would like to re-write the bible into a different animal altogether, removing 3/4 of it because YOU believe it to be invalid.

I have a problem with that.

Ahhhhuuhh,

Let's take a blogit poll here and see how many Christians actually believe in the authenticity of the Shroud of Turin.  Likely not many.  But you're holding that against all Christians?  Not smart. And because of that rather poor example you're extrapolating your point that God and Jesus of Christians are idols?  Huh?

If anything, you're pointing the finger at Catholics; they will have to stand up for themselves against your post since a lot of what they believe is extra-Biblical and I am not able to defend their beliefs since I am not Catholic. So please, don't pin the claptrap you've written on Bible believing Christians.

And yes, regarding what I believe was the first comment written by another blogger, it is true that they will know we are Christians by our love. However, it is also true that a Christian needs to stand up for what is right, which is why I am making a statement against content of this particular blog.

yes its that simple
but we have to reflect love for god in how we love each other.

too complicated!! That's the problem.

                       1) Love the Father

                        2) Love each other

               Real tough to understand!!!!!!!
