Unfortunately, FactorFiction, without a revolution of some sort, we'll
never see a restructuring of our government. Your corporate remark is closer to the mark than you might imagine, considering the billions corporations and 'special interest' groups spend to 'sway' political opinion. Everyone, from the president to the New Hampshire farmer, follows the money, for whatever reason. Money and politics together equal power -- the power to enact laws, the power to sway public opinion, the power to simply buy votes, no matter the level.

-The US and state governments
need to be overhauled the same as many corporation have been in "recent" years. Question is how? We supposedly are the government's employers, but there is no easy way to remove the dead wood. Sure there is that vote for the right people thing, but does anyone know who is the "best" choice? Money sways all...

Ben Franklin and Ralph Waldo Emerson, among other notables, were
avid proponents of the self-reliant lifestyle and look what they acheived.

True
After reading and hearing so much, I agree that the need for self reliance is very important. Within the governmental agencies there are too many factors that prohibit efficiency and timeliness, therefore one must "help thyself"!!!
