Temple, in a way you and I are so much alike. I too live in and on my bed alot, surrounded by books and computer. My couch is actually a futon, which becomes a bed when my boys arrive.

Don't feel bad, love....
I have a rental, my computer is STILL sick. I don't have a couch, I STILL have big floor pillows...that I never sit on because I have boxes of books in my living room that I have no storage for, so I'm always in my room, on my bed. We're all a work in progress. Once you learn to accept that, it's all good.

Hey Cas -
Money sucks doesn't it? Sorry about the comp, although I like things with a little character. Dell has some sub 500 computers right now, you might want to check them out.

my laptop is pretty much history
unless i want to spend a thousand bucks for a new board. For that much i'd get a new one. I am lucky the uni where i work provides laptops to all students, faculty and full-time staff. They kind of
suck, but they do
work.

I wish you could win a new computer
Of course to do that you need to enter a few prize draws. I agree you
could go get the cord. You don't want to lose something
you've worked hard over for the sake of a cord. Life is
very odd sometimes. We just won something that is a total luxury and
while I am enjoying it I can't help feeling as if it's frivolous

muser, I went to a friends place for dinner last night and we were talking about the same. We came to the conclusion that women just know how to be creative and "make do" with what they have at hand. Its a female thing!

I would say your laptop is being "held together on a wing and a
prayer"! Your creative approach to this problem once again
proves, "Necessity is the mother of invention."!

Please at least buy a new cord. I always forget things like that at the shops. Write a list or make a special trip. It will be worth it.

I think you should start searching for a really excellent deal
On a new computer. The desk top models now are under $500 here in the USA. A good used one might only be $300 USD.

ca88andra--
Technology is so wonderful and so maddening for the unwashed masses who are not cyber-experts. I'm basically one of the masses in that regard, but fortunately I have a techno-wizard in the family--my son-in-law, the computer engineer.
