mystic - it must work then because I haven't seen any vampires around!

You can never have too much garlic ...
wards off vampires.

May, its true - there wasn't much washing up at all thank goodness!

Well that sounds like a delicious fare
Think of all the washing up that you didn't have to do. Not that I had any either

Blanche they say it helps the brain and memory, etc. I always think I should take it because of my mother's Alzheimers. No, I don't feel bad at all - its ok!

Ca88andra,
Oh, now I've done it: you're feeling worse instead of better.   I try to take a 1 gram a day, 3 gel caps, I don't know if it does as much good as it's supposed to be, but like they say, "It couldn't hurt".

Blanche -you just reminded me I should be taking fish oil too.... oh dear...

Ca88,
I talk a good game, but I love the line in the Diana Krall song that goes, "I got too smart for my own good, I just don't do the things I know I should".  I'm lucky if I take a multi-vitamine whenever I think about it, and fish oil every day.  Otherwise, I just can't be bothered with swallowing a bucketful of pills.

Blanche, I've thought about those garlic pills, but for someone who hates taking anything like medicine, I figure I'm doing OK taking Vitamin B and C! You are right though, I've heard that garlic is very good for you. Maybe I ate enough on Christmas to last the year! lol I'm feeling fine now thank you.

posted by Ca88andra on December 26, 2005 at 2:56 PM | link to this | reply

Ca88andra,

Well, maybe it's better to take it pill form, which I never do, because I'm too cheap to buy it, but it's supposed to have so many healthy things that it should be marketed as a wonder drug: kills microbes, balances Ph, lowers cholesterol, keeps you from getting the flu, etc.  My grandfather was in WWI, and swore that when a Frenchwoman told him to eat a clove a day, that that was the reason he didn't get sick with the influenza that killed so many soldiers.

But like you said, it upsets your stomach, so it's a moot point.   I hope you're feeling better!

Blanche - its not just the garlic breath, my stomach doesn't deal well with garlic and yesterday I felt it! But I'm fine today so its all good. Happy New Year to you too!

Qween - its the next day when the garlic breath really hits and you can smell it on yourself...yuk! Happy New Year to you too.

babe - it sure was!

Frankenkitty, I think for all the pain, the only thing I gained was weight! lol

There can never be enough garlic, Ca88andra!

I think the only solution to the excess bad breath of garlic is to make sure that everyone around you has as much as you've had.  Your day does sound like a lovely adventure, public transit here is always full of people who are a little off, it's a slice of life, all right.

Going to a Greek cafe after having antipasto on your friend's balcony sounds like a wonderful way to spend the day.  Happy New Year's, too.

Offbeats - you would have loved it!

lovelylady - I spent yesterday alone too. I shopped and then lazed around doing not much at all and hardly eating a thing! lol

MsVision - I'm definitely off to the gym today to work off that festive feast.

mac - you just reminded me of stuffed clams. Yummmmm - how I used to love them. I've never seen them in Australia.

An over abundance
of garlic can never hurt...........for we all know of its 'cure all's' and a deterent to unwated convo on public transit.  Your day sounds dreamy..........friends food and bubly....can one ask for more? Perhaps not feeling the after effects of bubbly? Here's to you Happy New Year

Sounds like fun to me!
Isn't the saying, no pain, no gain? Or does that only apply to sports?  Oh well, I would have done the same if I were in your shoes. Merry Christmas

Lol Cass...

You had a good time with your friend, and that's the main thing!!  I spent Christmas Eve with my mum and some of my other family members, but spent yesterday here alone.  It was just fine with me though, because I didn't feel like going anywhere anyway.

Glad you had a Merry Christmas!!

ooooh, Ca88, what a lovely different kind of day you had. Sounds yummy.

Nothing like mine, but mine was wonderful as well.

Hope you have a healthy Happy New Year ahead for you and your family.

Ditto to too much yummy indulgence. Now I can start to get fit and healthy again for the New Year.

I feel for ya
I also ate too much.  The traditional family favorites...fried cheese, pigs in a blanket, stuffed clams, and those weird little hotdogs in red sauce...all I wanted to do when I got home was curl up in a little ball and pray for morning.  I'm glad you had an interesting Christmas, it's the boring ones we hate.

Temple - rocket is green and leafy - just like what I've been telling you to eat! lol I guess its a type of lettuce, but has a different taste. I wish you could have joined us - you would have loved the meal. My friend also doesn't eat meat, although she does eat chicken sometimes. As for the ordinary king... well, what can I say? lol

posted by Ca88andra on December 26, 2005 at 2:05 AM | link to this | reply

What on earth is rocket salad?
Sounds yummie, not traditional Christmas fare (better to me, since I don't eat turkey or ham, but I do eat fish).  No wonder your tummy hurts!  Public transportation is always an adventure.  I did it for 2 years and it was often good for entertainment.  An ordinary king, eh?  Hmm....
