Hemlocker,
What a beautiful, deep quote. I've never read that one, but I love Rilke's poetry, I have to live with the unanswered questions, that weigh me down, but as he says, I probably couldn't live with the answers, but learning to live with ambiguity, with each day as a mystery, that I can do. Enjoy your New Year!

Be not discouraged by the magnitude of the journey! Make it and you will be rewarded! Humankind demands and deserves nothing less. Hopefully all your holiday wishes were realized! God Speed!

Actually I am not "political" at all. I just believe in justice. I'm reluctant to wish anyone "peace" these days because, like "happiness", it leads to complacency. I wish you a productive New Year.

That's exactly why you and I get such a chuckle out of.....................
People who proudly proclaim that the bile is the only book they know.
Thanks for you sentiments but you are slightly off the mark.
I proudly proclaim that there is great peace in my life. Even as I see a huge lie exposed in others, a really stupid concept that drives me is dashed on sharp rocks of truth.
There is very little conflict and only a rational concern, which intrudes into my happiness. I'm confident that I'll soon find a job and make a living. I'm very talented and enjoy working. Sometimes I am hard to get along with if I'm not treated right.
If someone wishes that I bring my considerable talents to my job I wish to be fairly compensated. Otherwise I'll allow them the choice of minimum wage candidates.
Other than the day today concerns of making a living I have no conflict and feel at peace with the world.
In my last post I called forth people to stand at the border again and had no takers. At one time that would have bothered me. I think that which I was called to do, call people. I'll leave it to a force mightier than me to touch people to go.
I've gained a hugely valuable insight or two, from doing this call over years. How hard it is to "move" people politically is one understanding, and the understanding of how we think as individuals are a couple of insights that have come to me.
I marvel at the powers of mental coersion necessary to motivate someone into strapping on an explosive belt. The marketing potential of the Imans compared to our captains of the marketplace is awesome.
Have another great trip around the fusion pit, I trust and believe in Orbital Mechanics.

Thanks very much. One of the translations of the end of one of the Duino Elegies of Rilke is:
"and we who had thought of happiness ascending,
are mildly startled when happiness descends."
Have a wonderful New Year
