So much better to enjoy the quality time of a phone call, e-mail, or letter (and even a visit at another time when it was convenient for all involved) than to invest in time-spending that you really aren't into.

Of course--on the other hand--you might not feel like getting out and visiting initially but, if you do, you will find out later that it had all been worth it.

This, of course, is a decision you need to make on your own--making it one that isn't based on guilt or obligation.
