He's not that low
Don't be so hard on him. He can't be that low if he's sending you money unsolicited. I just had my first child, a baby girl, two months ago. Her father hasn't come to see her, not even once. Yes, he knows that this is his baby because we took a dna paternity test! (They took our samples on separate days so we didnt meet.) He has a working car and studies at a university that is less than half hour away from where we live. Yet he has not come by or sent any money. That's what I call low.

The man is obligated to you for more than just a Christmas check. If I may say, he's the one who should be feeling guilty---not you for using the money gift he gave you.
