You're right...being a parent, we do want to be in charge. Guess it's a natural feeling for parents around the world - wanting the best for our children, wanting them to fulfill all of their potential.... Perhaps because we love them, the "control" part just slips in. Ego has a way of doing that, doesn't it? Lessons for us all to learn (on many levels).

I am thinking about my children right now, and how much advice is too much. Do I really care that they wear this instead of that? There is so much that is mere preference, and not essential to their well being. But, we parents love to be in charge, don't we?
