Dear Bud...
You are very young, as your comments indicate. I also think that you live in a country that has probably rarely stood up for anything of value. Human life is valuable. All human life! The people of Iraq are no different. Sometimes, you have to fight to stop tyranny. Only someoone who is naive or a coward thinks you can sit back and do nothing and retain freedom.

My boyfriend fought in Vietnam in hand to hand combat and saw most of his friends blown apart but he still knows that some things are worth fighting for and even dying for.

The fact that your blog is called something about a pot grower tells me that you have few real values because if you were very intelligent, you'd know that pot damages your brain. I knew lots of people in school when I was a teenager who did the dope scene and they never became anything because they let that stuff ruin their lives.

The fact that you are obviously very immature and have little knowledge of real life and experience says that you need to grow up a little and find out a few things before making such inflammatory comments.

Thanks for your insights and your perspectives

Dear whimsy I do thank you for some of your insights but I understand also see why some are coloured by personal affiliations. You fail to understand that the ethical foundation for the war IS EVERYTHING! TO SUPPORT INJUSTICE FOR SOME WARPED CONCEPT OF PATRIOTISM IS TO STAND BEHIND THE MOST VICIOUS MASS MURDERS IN HISTORY AND MARVEL AT THEIR ARMIES/KILLING TECHNOLOGIES!!!!!

You also miss the point of war and the value of human life, all to goosestep blindly behind patriotism. There is no way in rational argument that America can justify this unprovoked invasion and in the end you will reap the whirlwind of hate that you’ve generated. I just hope I’m not in the way of the fall-out.

Dear Jack Flash...
Great analogy re: the Jews and Hitler. If America had gotten involved a little sooner, perhaps Hitler wouldn't have done so much damage to the Jews and others who stood up to him. I just thank God that the Jewish people have not kept quiet since then and maybe if more of the Jewish people thought about the Iraqi war in comparison to the Holocaust, we might have others who would understand why we have to be in Iraq right now.

To Military Wife...
What is your governor's name? We should let her know how the soldiers felt about her little speech.

Whimsy,
Good post.  Bailing out on the Iraqi people at this point would be equivalent to bailing out on the Jewish people of Germany to avoid conflict with the Hitler and the Nazis.
There is no sane person who wants to go to war, but the errant pigs of humanity cannot be allowed to run rampant over mankind.   jj

Sounds about like what mine says about it
The media reports what sells.  Soldiers who believe in their mission just doesn't sell.  Our Gov'r was at my husband's post yesterday.  He said if he had not wanted to keep his rank he would have walked out on her so called speech of "support".  He was pretty angry because of the rather politically slanted view she had the gull to put out there to them.

It was great...
because they said that the media was giving a one-sided account of things and they didn't appreciate it.

I missed that
Sorry that I did.
