In the freelancing world, that kind of thing happens a lot. I can't even count the number of clients I've lost through no fault of my own...but you just work on getting new ones, and not putting all the eggs in just a few baskets. Good luck!!

Hey, could you get out of my head?
I was just thinking that....just when you settle into acceptance, grace, this is how it is, things seem better .... blamo. I'm so sorry your husband is in the hospital. It's the last thing you need, I'm sure. I hope he feels better really soon and is back on his feet at home for the holidays. The writing will turn around, Rach. You are very diligent and organized, and this is ebb and flow of freelancing. Take deep breaths and hang in there. Something will shift again in your favor really soon.

Put your mind to sending out a couple of emails to other editors. You could also ask that guy who can't afford you for the moment for a reference.
