Dylan...
...don't worry - the more the merrier!
I didn't see it on TV, but I'd like to have done. I hope this is now the beginning of a real period of sanity. I hope.

malcolm...
...do you think he'd find it easier if we started using the word 'ranch' instead?
Cheers!

Oh, shit.
I posted the same speech in my blog!
Wasn't it great? Did you see it on TV? It was even better on TV! Inspiring, almost tear-jerking.
Such an immense relief to hear someone who knows what he's talking about challenge this White House's insanity!
Watching that speech was like the beginning of a catharsis.

As astute and well-intentioned a plan as has been put forth concerning
Iraq, DamonLeigh, and one that is causing all hell to break loose on the Hill. Sadly, it is an easily installed plan and one that could work. But this plan is missing a key ingredient that will insure that the corporate-mongering leadership of this country refuses to condone and implement it or anything like it -- financial incentive. Everything the Bush administration has implemented or enacted has been for the betterment of corporate America, including the war in Iraq. Remember, a grateully free and democratic Iraq was to pay for its liberation with its huge supply of oil. Like everything else in Iraq, that plan has failed miserably. Yes,it's time to cut our losses and bring our troops home. There is little doubt that our continued presence in Iraq destabilizes the region, infuriates the world, polarizes many Muslims, and is the source of a terrible division within the United States itself. Bush can play defensive politics till Hell freezes over; no matter how you look at the picture -- before, during, or after the invasion/occupation -- our presence in Iraq never was and cannot now be justified, no matter how many democratic elections the Iraqis hold.

I'm Totally...
...with you there.
However, we now have to accept that Bush lied, that the intelligence was wrong, that we were manipulated into a war that millions took to the streets to try and prevent, and now we are where we are, we have to make some clear, correct decisions in order to get back to some semblance of sanity.
Thanks for reading.

I can't really
comment 'cos I've never believed they should have been there in the first place. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Saddam was a good leader but I'm against armed incursions to restore peace and democracy. I feel it should be left to the people of the country concerned to decide when enough is enough. My feelings go out to those troops in Iraq and I hope when they eventually do come home they are not going to be treated with the same loathing the Vietnam troops were.
