Oops...
Sorry, I now see your friend was channeling Samuel.

Quirky,
To me that's the same thing, and go together.  I believe the planet's ascension is accelerating our spiritual evolution. Were you channeling Samuel?  I'd love to know more.

Rcky--
thanks for reading. well, first of all, those aren't my words, they are from a spiritual being my friend channeled. I don't think he was talking about planetary ascension so much as humanity's spiritual evolution.

Quirky....
Wonderful inspiration.  Are you talking of Earth's planetary ascension?

Factor--
I could be totally wrong about this, but I don't think he meant that in terms of Christianity or accepting Christ as a savior etc. I think he meant it in terms more of enlightenment, of christ-like thinking, i.e., spiritually unlimitedness...does that make sense? However, in terms of non-believers, yes I think on a spiritual evolution scale they would definitely be less evolved. Could be wrong about that, too...so don't bet any money on this...

Hmmm so that begs the question...

if this being has a distinct Christian bent, what does be say about non-believers, or about those who don't buy the entire package as per the Bible? Is that love truly universal regardless of whether you believe in "the Christ?" Are you less "evolved" in his perspective if you have not "accepted the Christ" story yadda yadda yadda?

Interesting.

so true--if we DON'T seek to feed on it daily, we really should.

Quirky

You know, I didn't even think about it in that sense. Maybe I am not so hopeless after all..??

That we could all do without., keepin up with the Jones..lol..I rememeber those days, but I lost that after maturity..I do still seek a place for my spiritual growth. Joseph Campbell has helped me with that. I used to never be able to put things into places ( God, belief's, earth and science history) until he one evening brought them so delighfully to me thru one of his tapes..I no longer strive for that answer, but Knowledge is something I think we all seek to feed on dailey...

Offbeat--
My take on what he means by competitive behavior...is the "comparing ourselves to the Joneses across the street" that we human always do. We compete to have the biggest, the best, the flashiest, etc. etc.

Quirky
I don't know what to think, there are two ways to look at competition...In business, it is a must, it is what leads us to greater challenges...Five proposals, only one selected..it is good to know your competition...Out of the business environment, I see no need for it.Sports maybe, but that is playful. I do see a real need for greater knowledge that allows our souls to grow...I guess I have never seen it demonstrated in the practical application of this ability, thus the need. I do believe I am selfish and playful, and I suffer from that human condition, but I also know I have met old souls on this planet. It is very interesting topic, especially with someone who is receptive to knowing...

I think that the competitive attitude is one of the legacies of
our physical ancestry.  It has, in those terms, survival value. Our challenge as human beings, is to grow beyond those values to the ones we aspire to as Spirit, where survival is not an issue.

silver--
I'm a lot like you, in terms of the attitude towards competitive behavior.

competition makes me very unhappy.  I prefer to play music for my own enjoyment alone, or with others in a group, for example.  I  like to be good, but I want to learn from those better than me.  I'm very uncomfortable around people who are competitive.  It seems there's too much energy invested in that unecessary negative emotion, when you should really derive pleasure from what you do well.
