venting on paper or the computer is a great way to "get things out"--often there is no further action required, as you discovered this time!

You have given us a few things to think about....
I've found that leaving things for a while does work. It works especially when group mail has to be sent that discusses a sensitive issue. Taking a step back is always a good thing.

I'm glad you were put in the position to "have" to share. Some of the most beautiful things come when there is no guarding by the mind as to how one should be political correct. But though beautiful most would "see" the communication of the hearts irritation with the common place as ugly. I say that it would seem as though I CAME HOME is the title of your post, but listen again.
