I didn't actually see it but I heard alot about it...personally I found it insulting, because she's really not overweight.

Good point. On the other hand, when Tyra Banks was hosting her special on prejudice against obsese people, it seemed a little hypocritcal.

Ah that's a classic...if someone is uncomfortable about your body size, they are first of all very uncomfortable with their own.

NewYorker,
The pulling off tags and replacing them I don't understand. Who is going to see your clothing tags and report them? I get back to Joe_Love's post on undewear and being in accidents. If someone is seeing the tags on your clothing, they are either resuscitating your unconscious body (in which case, I really hope they have other things on their mind, than thinking "My God, she wears a size 12! What a whale!) or they are in a compromising position, in which case, I hope they really are more interested in other things than thinking "She's a 12! I'm leaving!).
"Ah, the French, they eat snails and make love with their faces." (Bad rendition of an old Monty Python "Holy Grail" quote, in response to Offbeats.)

Offbeats...
The only one worth lusting after is the line Jean-Paul Gautier is designing for Hermes. Karl Lagerfeld (Chanel) is German and John Galliano (Dior) is English of Spanish descent!

no surprise...there's also an actress here in Italy who does the same....she has all her clothes designed by Bluemarine...if you look at her, she is at least a size 12, but she has a size 6 tag sewn in!

I personally appreciate fashion despite where it comes from. I have in the past adored French fashion. Due to my personal dislike for the French, I wouldn't buy anything that a French person had touched. I really like your post, very interesting insiight!

NewYorker,
That's always been a puzzlement. I read or heard that J Lo, (the one with the booty), actually had her assistant rip out the tag on her jeans and other clothes and replace them with a size 0! Vanity, thou art woman.

and the impossibly-sized clothes? It's very ironic that clothes run in such small sizes when women here have meat on them!

NewYorkerInSicily,
When I think of Milan fashion, all I can think of are impossibly painful-looking pointy toed shoes. Ouch.
