Interesting, Billy.
I'll have to check that out.  As to the white suits, maybe he didn't want to miss photo opportunities. lol   He's one person I wish I could meet, though, very interesting and colorful.

Witchflower...I always wondered why TR dressed in all white to operate a
steam shovel in that muddy place.  He's favorite president.  Appearently he hunted sasquatch also...if you believe what Mark Sundeen writes (www.marksundeen.com)

Thank you, Ariel,
that is one of my favorite quotes.  I believe Edmund Wilson said it.

Yes indeed, and in many, many other places too.

Tyranny never ends, and bigotry and hatred will always find expression. And all that is needed to evil to flourish is for good men to do nothing. And women of course, 'cos the dictum isn't mine, I just use it

Thank you both for reading.

Straightforward, now I'll have to read more about that!

Ariel, my statement was actually a parroting of some things I read, so feel free to contradict away!  I will read your pieces, hopefully this evening or tomorrow.

What bothers me most about Kristallnacht (besides the absolute horror and disgust of it) is the feeling that we are very close to something similar, at least in spirit in the USA.

Hi again Witch. Another interesting post.

I'm not in any way contradicting you statement that Kristallnacht was the true beginning of the Holocaust, or Shoah, as I prefer to call it, but I think that the Shoah had it true origins in the Nuremberg laws of September 1935.

But of course one can debate this endlessly. I did wonder if you would like to trawl your way down thro' my blog, and find three peieces about the Shoah.

" Shoah" " Don't Say Mama" and " Guardian Angels"

I would greatly value you opinion on them.

I shall visit you again soon, and read you with interest, I'm sure

An informative blog. The Kristallnacht felt so much like the genocide
that was unleashed on Gujarat Muslims.
