Excellent Post. What do you think about Tarek Fatah and the Canadian Muslim Congress' bid to de-segregate prayer? I've seen him discuss this a few times, and he explains how during Mohammed's life, women were as important in the community as men, and there weren't as many restrictions on man/woman contact. I'm not doing him justice, I'm sure. He was very persuasive, though. According to him, these restrictions (such as a prohibition against prayer together) were introduced much later.
I admire Mai a lot. It takes a huge reservoir of strength to do what she's doing.
