They seem like...

...a really down-to-earth couple.

I met him back in 1976 (must have been the year for meeting celebrities) when he campaigned at Butler University's Hinkle Fieldhouse.

He was so inspiring when he gave his speech, and, afterwards, he went around the area greeting people.

I was stoked, and, when he came to me, I exclaimed, "Gerald Ford!  Bless your heart!" and gave him a big hug, and he hugged me back.

Strange, but, at the time, it felt as if I were hugging someone from church (e.g. minister, guest-speaker, or lay-speaker) who had just given a really memorable sermon/talk.

The ones in my group were my folks, Mark, and a little girl (who was about 10 or 11) named Gail who was one of "my girls" at Fountain Square Girls' Club where I was volunteering at the time.

Afterwards, we had gone over to visit Mark's evil twin who was attending school there at the time.

We were all sitting around in the living room of his dorm talking when it suddenly hit me:

I'd just hugged The President Of The United States--and been hugged back!!!

Anyway, I found out that Gail had kissed him and had been kissed back!

We had a car full of balloons that had fallen from the ceiling afterwards, because Gail wanted her mom, dad, and each of her many siblings to have a balloon from there.

Cheers!
